New Florida attractions for 2018

Many new attractions are coming to the theme parks in Orlando for 2018, and some brand new ones have just opened, so even frequent visitors will have something new to enjoy. They include:

Pandora–The World of Avatar – Under construction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Pandora is based on the hit 3D movie Avatar, and will allow visitors to experience this magical world for themselves. It will include a boat ride called Avatar: Flight of Passage, which will take visitors through a colourful stimulated rainforest, and another watery ride called the Na’Vi River Journey. The opening date for this area is rumoured to be late May 2018.

Frozen Ever After – Frozen fans visiting Epcot next year will be delighted to see some brand new attractions based on the hugely popular movie. The Frozen Ever After boat ride opened in June 2016, and takes visitors on a ride through the village of Arendelle, where you’ll spot all your favourite characters. Epcot has also opened the Royal Sommerhus, a new area for Frozen themed character greetings, so your child can have their photo taken with Anna and Elsa.

LEGO Ninjago – The Ride – Coming to LEGOLAND Florida in late April 2018, LEGO Ninjago – The Ride will allow kids to join in a virtual ninja fight, throwing fire and ice from their own hands. It’ll be part of a new ninja themed world that’s coming to the park.

Mako Rollercoaster – Opening in summer 2016 in Seaworld Orlando, the creators of Mako claim it’ll be ‘Orlando’s tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster’. With a peak height of 200 feet, you’ll be able to see over Orlando’s skyline, before being thrown through twists and turns at speeds of up to 73MPH.

Carnaval Miami – Taking place over two weeks in the middle of March, this colourful festival draws in crowds of over a million people. From open air concerts to cooking shows and kids’ activities, the festival is an inclusive event that celebrates Hispanic culture.

Marathon Seafood Festival – In early March, the Marathon Seafood Festival brings thousands of visitors to the Florida Keys. This two-day event celebrates everything to do with seafood, and you can enjoy freshly caught lobsters from the coast, browse the street stalls, and enjoy family friendly activities.

Florida Renaissance Festival – If you’ve never been to a Renaissance fair in America, then this huge event in Fort Lauderdale will show you why they’re so popular. Over a million people visit each year, many of them in striking costumes, and an entire Medieval village is constructed with jousting, sword fights, music, and themed food on offer.
