How to do Florida on the cheap…
Florida may be one of the family holiday destinations on your wish list, but few families believe that their already overstretched budgets could reach the Sunshine State.
But there are lots of ways to take your family to Florida without breaking the bank. Here are our top tips on saving cash and still bagging your dream Florida holiday:
1. Book early
If you want to get a good deal, book as early as you can to take advantage of greater availability and lower rates. You can also make savings on those holiday extras, such as airport parking, car hire and travel money, by pre-booking with us. Booking early is particularly important if you have to travel in the school holidays as discounts rarely apply in these peak periods (during Christmas, Easter, July and August). Likewise, February and October holidays can also cost more due to the half-term breaks.
2. The full package
You might think that it will be cheaper to go down the DIY route and book flights, transfers and accommodation separately, but you may well get the same package at a lower rate if you book through Florida Masters. Plus, you’ll get an additional level of ATOL protection for your package holiday.
3. Choose a non-central location
If you want a hotel in Orlando, don’t just consider the centrally located ones in Universal Orlando and Disney World. There are plenty more affordable accommodation options just minutes away from Mickey Mouse HQ – and you’ll also be able to enjoy other attractions in the local area.
A villa holiday can be a far more cost-effective option for larger families and groups as you will save money on the accommodation and make savings by cooking your own meals, instead of eating out.
5. Think outside the box
If you need a less expensive day of family fun, try spending some time away from the theme parks and go to the beach or a nearby museum. There are also plenty of children’s play areas near the major attractions, with other activities, such as mini golf and go karting, also readily available.
6. Out of season
There are some big cost savings to be had if you are able to travel out of season, with many bargain package deals available. Plus, you could benefit from better weather in these off peak periods, and also avoid the longest queues at the attractions.
